The R834 is a very short link road in Dublin.
Its main job is to provide a route for HGV traffic leaving Dublin Port which avoids the low bridge on East Wall Road - the scene of numerous bridge strikes.
Named Alfie Byrne Road throughout, the R834 is built on reclaimed land around Fairview Park. Traffic can then continue along the R807 to Clontarf, or head back into Fairview.
It is built on the line of the failed Fairview Spur. It opened with one of Ireland's first purpose-built cycle paths.
