This article is about the Class III road numbered C294 maintained by Cambridgeshire Council.
For other roads numbered C294, see C294.
For other roads numbered C294, see C294.
The C294 maintained by Cambridgeshire Council is a link in the south of the city centre of Cambridge.
Once busy with traffic, Silver Street half was blocked by a bus gate some time around the turn of the century as part of a policy by the city council to prevent vehicles taking short cuts through the city centre, by forcing all traffic around the heavily congested ring road. By contrast, the Downing Street end is one way for motor vehicles, and regularly features queueing traffic attempting to park in the Lion Yard car park.
It is described in the freedom of information request[1] as being:
C294 TRUMPINGTON STREET (C294) CAMBRIDGE
C294 DOWNING STREET CAMBRIDGE
C294 PEMBROKE STREET CAMBRIDGE
C294 SILVER STREET CAMBRIDGE
