This article is about the former E Road which existed from 1983 to 1985.

For the current E Road from Berlin to Minsk, see E-roads/A-class/even#E28.
The E28 ran from the E05 at Coleshill (M42/M6 junction) to the E30 at Ipswich. It used the M6 to Catthorpe, where it met the M1/E13, multiplexing with it until Northampton, and then the A45 to Ipswich, meeting the A1/E15 at St Neots and the M11 at Girton.
In the 1985 renumbering, this route was renumbered E24, with the E28 serving Berlin - Gdansk. The E28 was extended from Gdansk, via Topali, to Minsk in 1999.
