Smethwick is a small town and former County Borough in the Black Country, located immediately to the west of Birmingham and functionally part of the city.
Its road network is managed by Sandwell Council. The only Trunk road within the town is the M5, managed by National Highways. There are also no Primary Routes within the town, a very unusual situation for a former County Borough.
