The ZC32 follows what is perhaps Scotland's most famous street - The Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It starts at the roundabout on the ZC4 in front of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and heads west, steadily climbing towards the castle at the far end of the mile. However, as Lawnmarket changes to Castle Hill, the ZC32 leaves the Royal Mile behind and dips down the one-way Johnston Terrace as it drops below the castle ramparts. At the bottom, it splits. One arm continues ahead along Spittal Street to Meet Bread Street, also part of the ZC4, whilst the other turns right along Castle Terrace to meet the A70, Lothian Road.
