Slip road to A90

The B924 was the former route of the A90 and A904 through Queensferry before the diversion of these routes along the bypass following construction of the Forth Road Bridge.

Today the B924 leaves the A90 at a grade separated junction, continuing in a north-westerly direction while the bypass veers off to head west. The road passes the entrance to Dalmeny House, a mansion dating back to 1817, at a junction with an unclassified road giving access to the village of Dalmeny, before heading steeply downhill on Hawes Brae into Queensferry. The road passes under the Forth Rail Bridge and immediately, on the far side, passes the pier from where the A90 crossed in a ferry to North Queensferry before the Forth Road Bridge was built.

Now on the former A904 the B924 runs along the water's edge on Newhalls Road as the main thoroughfare through Queensferry. A large car park on the shore side probably shows the former ferry queuing area, with Hotels, Pubs and a garage opposite to serve the waiting motorists of old. The suddenly, a pair of no entry signs block further progress, without a turning head, and it is a lengthy detour through the town to reach the other end of this one way stretch. The road ahead is narrowed, partly by traffic calming measures, but mostly by the narrow stretch of Queensferry's High Street, squeezed between buildings and a section of raised pavement. The road is laid to setts, and wider sections provide parking bays. The architecture is mostly old Scots, but look out for a bit of Art Deco and some 1960s concrete.

After squeezing along the High Street, the route widens again at a TOTSO from where the B907 heads south up the hill towards Dalmeny. The B924 continues ahead, running westwards along Hopetoun Road, which kinks left at the next junction. A steady climb takes the route underneath the Forth Road Bridge and on through the residential area of Echline on Bo'Ness Road. It finally comes to an end at a signalised T junction with the A904. This junction was thoroughly rebuilt to accommodate the new Queensferry Crossing and lies a short distance to the east of the old junction, which has been lost under the new Queensferry Junction on the M90.
