Kaimes Junction is a signalised crossroads in south Edinburgh between the A701 and B701. The B701 was formerly the Edinburgh ring road, which was once very busy, but since the opening of the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass, the junction primarily serves traffic heading to or from Straiton Junction to the south. Each of the four approaches gains a second lane to accommodate turning traffic, and while the A701 is a wide arterial route, it has largely been reduced to a single running lane in either direction due to the introduction of bus lanes.
