New Burnshot Junction lies within the Edinburgh local authority boundary and is the junction with a minor road.
Prior to the 1960s, the junction was a simple T-junction outside New Burnshot Lodge. The A90 was dualled here in the early 1960s, and was realigned through the junction and sunk into a cutting with a bridge across the top, to create a diamond interchange. the old carriageway was retained to the north of the A90 to act as the eastbound on ramp.
In 2017, the flyover was closed as being assessed as being unable to support more than its own weight, and fencing put up on either side of the bridge to prevent access. In November 2017 the bridge was subsequently demolished. On 22 February 2018 £3m funding was confirmed for a replacement bridge to be designed and constructed.
