Seafield Junction is a large signalised crossroads at the western end of Portobello High Street. The A199 passes through from north to south, the southern arm being a modern relief route opened in 1986 to remove traffic from Portobello itself. This saw the B6415 extended along the High Street to this junction, while the western arm is the A1140. Until the late 1940s, this junction lay on the A1, which crossed from west to east on the A1140 - B6415 route. When it was rerouted further south, the A199 was initially extended through Portobello, before itself being re-routed as noted above. There is a fifth arm at the junction, the short dead end Kings Road, which leads off north east to reach the beach. The junction was a roundabout until it was remodelled to the current layout in 2008.
The junction has a spacious layout, and all of the main arms have three turning lanes at the lights to separate turning traffic. The left turn lanes in particular are rather short, perhaps only offering room for one car. That on the southern arm of the A199 is notably longer, and makes a full fourth lane. The right turn lanes on the A199 are further segregated and run between traffic islands, as they operate separately from the other phases.
