The Meikle Ferry Roundabout lies at the southern end of the Dornoch Firth Bridge to the north of Tain. It connects the new road across the bridge to the old A9 route which originally circled the head of the firth via Bonar Bridge. The A9 still approaches the roundabout from Tain, but then turns north to cross the bridge, with a rerouted A836 taking up the old A9 line to Bonar. A fourth arm to the roundabout is a private road leading to part of the small settlement of Tarlogie. The old road to the Meikle Ferry slipway, meanwhile, does not meet the roundabout, instead it takes a short detour from its original route to meet the A836 a short distance west from the roundabout.
