Icehouse Brae Roundabout is one of the newer junctions on the A9 around Falkirk, having been built in 2009 to replace a former staggered crossroads. The main reason behind the construction seems to be to open up the land to the north for development. The A9 passes from east to west, being one of the main links between the M9 and Grangemouth to the east and Falkirk to the east. To the south, Icehouse Brae South climbs the hill to an area of housing, whilst Icehouse Brae North connects to the Laurieston Road Industrial area. The road is currently a narrow S2 with a 7.5 Tonne Weight limit passing through fields, but it seems likely that this will be upgraded and developed in the near future.
