The Inveralmond Roundabout lies at the northern end of the A9 Perth bypass route, and is where the A9 rejoins its historic route, shortly before crossing the Almond Bridge just to the north. The roundabout is at grade, with all three main arms being dualled, albeit the A912 into Perth quickly narrowing to an urban S2 / S2+1 mix. The fourth arm in the north west corner leads into the Inveralmond industrial estate.
Due to the large volume of traffic staying on the A9 at this busy roundabout, there were long term plans to build a new route for the A9 further to the west, as a bypass of the bypass! However, works which have recently been started to the south at the A85 / St. Johnstone Interchange seem to suggest that this is now less likely. A new connection from the A85 will provide alternative access to the Inveralmond Industrial Estate, so removing some traffic from this roundabout. However, all through traffic will still need to pass through the roundabout.
In the longer term, there is also the possibility of a new crossing of the Tay, so connecting to the A93 and A94 on the river's east bank. This is planned to connect to a new junction to the north of Inveralmond, with an extension of the road currently under construction also meeting the new junction, and so perhaps further relieve the existing roundabout. The new bridge is also likely to provide an alternative route from the north to the A90 and Dundee, taking some long distance traffic off the A9 completely.
