|Junctions related to the B865|
The Raigmore Interchange is the western terminus of the A96 on the A9 to the east of Inverness. It is grade separated, with the dualled A96 and B865 meeting at a roundabout underneath the A9. This roundabout is signal controlled at peak times. This junction is also noteworthy of being the only roundabout interchange (as opposed to flat roundabout) on the entire Dunblane to Scrabster section of the route. The junction can get very busy, as it is one of the main routes between the city and the A9, even if traffic is signed via the A82, and also sees a lot of traffic taking the A96 either to the retail park or longer distance.
It is possible that in the future this junction will see some changes, as there is a plan to extend the B8082 north to meet the A96 at the Inverness Retail Park Roundabout. It is also being extended at the other end across the River Ness to meet the A82. To accomplish this, the Inshes Junction would be rebuilt, so some movements may become less congested at Raigmore, allowing changes to the junction layout. The dualling of the A96 east past Nairn is less likely to impact this junction, all of the routes through it are already dualled.
