Stranraer

Cairnryan is a village and port at on Loch Ryan in the South West of Scotland. The village has grown up as a string of houses along the A77, which travels along the banks of Loch Ryan here.

Cairnryan has replaced Stranraer for the base for ferry operations across the North Channel from Scotland, with both P&O and Stena Line constructing new infrastructure on the shores of Loch Ryan here, were more space was available for expansion and freight movement than in the centre of Stranraer.

The P&O port is further to the south, while Stena line operate from a port to the north of the village.
