The B521 is a short link road through the northern suburbs of Derry. Owing to the short length of the road its history is not known.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A515 northern bypass and heads southwest along Glengalliagh Road. We cross a large expanse of grass with houses visible beyond. The B194 turns off left, after which we pass a shopping centre then return to the grassed area. This gives the air of a New Town that wasn't finished. We cross a couple of roundabouts and then reach another. The B521 ends here but the only other classified road is the B522, which only goes a short distance to the left.
