The B513 is an urban link road through the suburbs of Newtownabbey. Owing to the road's short length its history is not fully known but it was still unclassified in the 1970s. It is largely a bypass of the Old Irish Highway.
The road starts at traffic lights on the A6 opposite Pizza Hut and just north of a bridge over the M2. It heads east along O'Neill Road and descends past a park before crossing a roundabout by a cemetery. Houses then start to become visible adjacent to the road, although it takes a bit longer for some to front onto the B513 and even then there aren't many.
We cross the B59 at a roundabout and then become lined with houses. We follow Station Road past the Whiteabbey Hospital and soon go over the Belfast to Larne railway line above Whiteabbey station. A short distance further on the road ends at a roundabout on the A2.
