The A5106 is a short A-road in south Lancashire. Originally the A580 it presumably got its present number in 1934 when the A580 number was transferred to the new, more important East Lancashire Road.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A49 immediately west of that road's crossing of the West Coast Main Line. We head north and soon cross the line ourselves before winding alongside the River Douglas through an eastern suburb of Standish. It's not long before we enter open country and we climb away from the river and continue across the fields.
We follow Wigan Road which has a few bends and a surprisingly large number of buildings lining it to pass a golf course. We end at traffic lights on the A6 between Chorley and Adlington.
