This article is about the A6183, formerly A43, Kettering northern bypass. For the A6183 that was an alternative number for the M1 west of Leeds proposal between Kirkhamgate and Dishforth, see A6183 (Kirkhamgate - Dishforth).
Weekley Wood Lane
The number A6183 was reserved on 20 June 2007 for the section of the A43 from the Kettering northern bypass to Stanion, which would be bypassed by the Corby Link Road. In the event, most of the road was numbered as an extension of the A4300; however a small section of the Kettering bypass was allocated this number.
The short A6183, therefore, starts at a roundabout where the A43 turns off the northern bypass to multiplex with the A6003 for a short distance. Our road heads east along Weekley Wood Lane, a road that had existed for years and which was upgraded to become part of the A43 bypass. Presently the road bends to the left (the old Weekley Wood Lane continued ahead and is now closed off at this end) and soon ends at another roundabout on the original line of the A43, now numbered A4300. It's the road to the left that was also planned to be renumbered A6183.
