The A6186 is a short link road to the south of the Yorkshire city of Wakefield. The road shadows - but largely bypasses - the original western end of the B6378 on a road purpose-built in the late 1980s.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A636 which also provides access to Pugneys Country Park and a business park. We head southeast, almost running alongside the country park's lake before continuing across the fields to meet the former B6378 which comes in from the right. We now follow a heavily upgraded - and much straighter - alignment of that road eastwards past a retail park and across a double roundabout into Milnthorpe. The road runs along the residential Standbridge Lane, which has not been upgraded from B6378 days, and soon ends at traffic lights on the A61, at a junction where that road has to TOTSO.
