The Alderley Edge Bypass is a 3 mile bypass on the A34 of the town of Alderley Edge in Cheshire. Early plans for a bypass were considered as early as the 1920s, it was nearly 90 years later in 2010 when it finally opened. The route eventually constructed was an S2 road, connecting with two roundabouts at either end on the existing route and with no intermediate junctions. The bypass was named 'Melrose Way' in honour of Margaret Melrose who tirelessly campaigned for the bypass during her time as a councillor since the 1960s.

The bypass was opened on 19 November 2010 by George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer. Contractor was Birse Civils, cost £52 million.

As a result of the bypass, the northern end of the A535 and part of the former route was renumbered as B5359, presumably to encourage traffic heading for Holmes Chapel and the M6 to use the new bypass and A537. A short stretch of the former route in the town centre was numbered as an extension of the B5087 with the remaining route to the south becoming unclassified.
