The B1524 was part of the original route of the A15, until the opening of the Deepings bypass in 1998. The first ½-mile towards Market Deeping is itself part of a previous A15 improvement - leading traffic away from the Glinton bypass.
The road begins through open countryside near Deeping Gate, presently meeting Town Bridge, across the River Welland. It crosses the B1525 at a roundabout and continues along Church Street for the remaining mile, passing St Guthlac's Church, and the Old Rectory - one of the oldest vicarages in England.
