The route of the B1529 in Bishop's Stortford corresponds to that of the former B1003 with the sole difference that the present road also includes the 175-metre length of North Street at its northern end. It is not known when, or why, the change took place.
The road starts at a roundabout on the B1383 on the southern side of town and heads north along South Road and South Street into the town centre. At traffic lights traffic is persuaded to turn right onto Station Road but the B1529 continues ahead and becomes one-way and semi-pedestrianised. We zigzag along Potter Street to another set of lights where the B1004 comes in from the left and the B1529 continues along the two-way, all-purpose North Street to end at a T-junction on the A1250.
