The C510 is a short route in north Sunderland, taking the former route of the B1291 towards the coast since that road was diverted onto a parallel route to the north. It starts at a crossroads by the Blue Bell pub, where the B1291 turns left onto its newer alignment, and makes a beeline for the coast along Sea Road. This is Seaburn's main shopping street and is usually busy with pedestrians, particularly in the summer. After a while Sea Road becomes Chichester Road and the shops are replaced with houses.
The C510 then turns left at an elongated roundabout, skirting around Seaburn Park before ending on the A183 coast road at the locally renowned fountain roundabout, with the Grand Hotel on the left.
