For the junction on the C223 in Cambridgeshire, see Oak Tree Corner.
Oaktree Junction lies at the western end of the A1 Haddington bypass, where it meets the older bypass which is now the A199. It is a dumbbell type interchange, with the A1's eastbound sliproads meeting at a roundabout and then crossing over the top of the A1 on a long skew bridge. On the south side, they meet the A199 at a TOTSO, and continue east to a second roundabout where the westbound sliproads are met, as well as the B6471 which follows the original line of the A1 into Haddington. Neither of the roundabouts are very large, the northern one is circular, that on the south side oval. Both have single vehicle approach and exit lanes on all arms.
The town's first bypass opened in 1932 and is now the A199. The A1 was the dualled offline in stages, the section west of the junction opening in 1996 and that to the east in 2004. In the intervening period, the A1 narrowed from a dual carriageway onto the wide single carriageway of the original 1930s bypass.
