The 1932 OS Ten-Mile Road Map of Great Britain shows the B3342 as running along what is now the B3128 between Failand and Long Ashton, southwest of Bristol.
At the time, the B3128 turned north east at Failand along what is now the B3129 to Leigh Woods. The current layout, seemingly implemented in the 1935 renumberings, seems to make more sense, which asks the question why it wasn't the original layout. The answer is shown in the B3342's high number: this number was not allocated in the original 1922 lists, and the road was only deemed good enough to be a B-road in the mid-1920s.
