The B5417 is a rural road in east Staffordshire. It was originally unclassified but gained its number in the 1940s.
The road starts at a tiny mini-roundabout on the A522 Tape Street on the eastern side of Cheadle town centre. It heads east along Queen Street and passes the Les Oakes "museum" before entering open country. The road narrows for a short stretch before widening again as it climbs to go through Hawkesmoor. There's a winding section through a wood before a steep hill takes the road into the Churnet Valley and the village of Oakamoor.
After crossing the river we wind out of the valley. We leave the wood at a crossroads, where traffic for Alton Towers is signposted to the right, and then continue to climb up onto the moors. A summit is reached at the next crossroads. We then pass to the west of a quarry, continuing across the fields to journey's end at a T-junction on the A52.
