The B5407 is a short section of the former route of the A59 running northeast from Maghull in Lancashire. It gained its number following construction of the bypass in the 1930s.
The road continues Liverpool Road from the point by Maghull Methodist Church where the A5147 forks left to follow Southport Road. Lined for most of its length of under a mile by ribbon development housing, with consequent 30 and 40 mph speed limits, it reaches the line of the present dual-carriageway A59 Maghull bypass at a wooded roundabout just south of Aughton Chase.
The route is signed only in the southbound direction, with only one mention of the B5407, just after leaving the A59.
