The B5445 follows 6.5 miles of the former route of the A483 south of Chester as it was before the latter road's rerouting.
The road starts at a large roundabout on the northern edge of Wrexham and heads northeastwards across open fields into Gresford. The B5373 bears left on the near side of town. We then descend Marford Hill into Marford and continue along the village's main street. After returning to open country the B5102 comes in from the left at a small roundabout and takes over our road into Rossett. We pass Rossett Mill and, after crossing the River Alyn, Christ Church on our left.
The B5102 bears off to the right in the centre of the village and the B5445 resumes, continuing straight ahead. The road remains residential, although we do come into sight of fields, as we cross into England and enter the village of Pulford. We now return to the fields as we skirt the western edge of the grounds of Eaton Hall, seat of the Dukes of Westminster. The hall's Belgrave Avenue approach is passed shortly before journey's end at traffic lights where we rejoin the A483.
