For the other B5477 that runs in Wallasey, Cheshire, see B5477 (Wallasey).
The later version of the B5477 runs along the original line of the A49 through the Shropshire town of Church Stretton. When the bypass was built in the 1950s the road became a northern extension of the B4370. However, the road then gained its present number in the 2000s, a number that is a duplicate and out-of-zone.
After leaving the A49 we cross the Shrewsbury to Hereford railway line then head south along a valley, with the Long Mynd on the right and Caer Caradoc on the left. We soon reach All Stretton and run along the main street. A brief rural section takes us into Church Stretton, the main settlement in the area. After passing the access road to Carding Mill Valley (a beauty spot) and enter the town centre.
The B4371 comes in from the left then we follow the narrow High Street, which widens as it becomes Ludlow Road. The road then zigzags right then left to remain at the bottom of the escarpment. Although the road remains built-up for longer than expected there is a short rural section before we enter Little Stretton. On the far side of the village we go over the railway line again before ending at a T-junction back on the A49.
