Belturbet is a market town (2011 population 1,378) in north central County Cavan, Ireland, situated at a crossing of the River Erne, with a town centre bridge dating back to 1836. It is the last significant place on the N3 from Dublin before that road crosses into Northern Ireland and becomes the A509. An N3 bypass to the west opened on 2 August 2013, on which date the old N3 through the town became part of the R197.
