Cavan is a town in the north of the Republic of Ireland, near the border with Northern Ireland. It was once a hub for cross country routes, where the road from Dublin to Derry and the road from Belfast to Galway crossed, though the partition of Ireland inevitably reduced its importance somewhat. Today, the N3 is the main road through the town, while the N54 and N55 are also important roads.
