This article is about the original A341, which ran from Winchester to Lopcombe Corner, where it met the A30.
For the current A341, a small road running between Kinson, near Bournemouth, to Merley, near Poole, see A341.
For the current A341, a small road running between Kinson, near Bournemouth, to Merley, near Poole, see A341.
The A341 number was originally allocated to the route west of Winchester.
The road started on the A31 High Street in Winchester city centre. It left town up St Paul's Hill and continued via Stockbridge to end on the original route of the A30 at Lopcombe Corner.
In 1935 the A30 was rerouted via Stockbridge instead of Andover. As such, that road took over the western half of the A341 and the remainder became an extension of the A272. A-roads were expelled from Winchester in 1995 and so that part of the A272 which used to be the A341 became the B3049.
