Route outline (key)
B131 Clare - Tamnamore
The B131 running alongside the M1

The B131 is a cross-country road in north County Armagh. The road was originally unclassified but gained its number in the late 1920s.

The road starts on the B2 at Clare; that road has to give way here although the eastern continuation of the B131 is unclassified. We head in the other direction and quickly cross the B3 at a staggered crossroads before continuing northwestwards over the fields to a T-junction on the A51. There's a brief multiplex to the left then our road turns right and regains its number.

We continue northwest and soon cross the B78 at a staggered crossroads. The road then continues via Milltown before descending into Richhill to reach a T-junction. To the left is a spur of the B111 into the village centre, whilst we TOTSO right to pass through suburbs and leave town. We soon meet the A3, which we cross at a roundabout.

The road takes the next turn left, at a badly signed TOTSO, then runs into Kilmore and a right turn at a T-junction opposite the church. After crossing the B77 we go over the River Tall then cross the B28 at a staggered crossroads. A fairly straight road takes us northwest across the fields for a couple of miles then we TOTSO right at a T-junction to reach the M1 at J13. A fork bears right to join the westbound sliproads then the B131 TOTSOs left just before going over the motorway; the road ahead reaches the eastbound sliproads.

We now head west once more on what was the A4 until the M1 was built, initially alongside the motorway then continue ahead when that bears off right. Soon our road bears right and we run in the gap between the River Tall and the M1 to end on the B196. That road continues ahead along the ex-A4.
