This article is about the former A1059 in Bishop's Stortford.
For the original A1059 to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne, see A1059 (Newcastle upon Tyne).
For the original A1059 to the north of Newcastle upon Tyne, see A1059 (Newcastle upon Tyne).
The A1059 was a short link road through Bishop's Stortford town centre.
It started on the then A1184 London Road and headed north along South Road, South Street and Potter Street to reach the Market Square and the B1004 High Street. It then continued along North Street to end on the A1250 Hadham Road. The road listing also claims Dane Street and Station Road to be part of the A1059; this presumably was a spur.
The road was downgraded in 2007 when the A1184 was rerouted onto the western bypass. London Road was downgraded to become the B1383 and the A1059 was downgraded with it. Some maps claim that the road is now numbered B1529. However, the road is narrow and partially one-way northbound so has no real reason to be classified.
