The C31 is a lengthy C road in east County Antrim. It starts on the A6 in Glengormley, Newtownabbey and follows Carnmoney Road northwards before turning east onto Burnthill Road at a TOTSO. The road soon reaches a roundabout after which there is a brief multiplex with the C32 along Prince Charles Way. Just round the corner, the C31 resumes its northward journey following the rest of Carnmoney Road and turns left at a T junction shortly before meeting the B90 at a crossroads. The road then passes through Mossley on the edge of Newtownabbey before crossing the B59 to finally reach open countryside. From here the road is generally very straight as it continues north and after a short distance, the road splits. The road ahead turns north west to meet the A8 at the Coleman's Corner roundabout. Meanwhile the road to the right heads north east for a few more kilometres before ending on the C36 in the small village of Straid.
