The C156C is a convoluted route through Aberdeen, which closely follows the A96, indeed part of it once was the A96. Due to the new shopping centres built on the old line of George Street in the city centre, it would appear that the C156C now starts on the C157C, Gallowgate, and wiggles round on Berry Street and Loch Street to find George Street. It then heads north, crossing the A944, to reach the A96 at Powis Terrace. After a multiplex with the A96, then west along the B986, the route resumes, following Back Hilton Road as it turns west to the roundabout on the A978. Turning north again, the route follows Hilton Drive as it converges on both the B986 and A96, but in fact misses both as it turns west to meet the A90 instead.
