The B988 was allocated to Justice Street, and the eastern part of Castle Street, in Aberdeen, providing a short link between what was the A92 (later A9013, now unclassified) Union Street and A946 (now A956) Commerce Street.
Today, the road is unclassified, although it is not entirely clear when this happened, and the Castle Street section is pedestrianised and closed to traffic.
