For the former B991 along Bedford Road in Aberdeen, see B991 (Bedford Road).
The B991 connects the A956 and A96 together along St Machar Drive in Aberdeen. It starts at a roundabout on the A956 and heads west through Old Aberdeen, past the University of Aberdeen. It meets the B988 at a signalised junction where traffic can turn north to cross the River Don on the new Diamond Bridge, or south to follow the previous line of the B991. The current B991 however continues straight along the full length of St Machar Drive, over the railway, to terminate at the St Machar Roundabout with the A96.
The current B991 was created in 2020 by renumbering the north eastern part of the former A978.
