For other roads numbered C93, see C93.
The C93 is a confusing route which has been quite substantially changed in the middle. It starts sensibly enough on the B7066, Newarthill High Street and heads west along Loanhead Road, across a roundabout and on to the A723. Here, at another roundabout, things start to get confusing. A short distance to the west, Loanhead Road passes a footbridge over the railway, which is roughly on the site of a former level crossing. It appears that the C93 once crossed the lines here, as Station Road on the far side is listed as part of the route. Unfortunately, Station Road runs both south west to the B7029, and alongside the railway to the station.
Back on the north side of the tracks, Loanhead Road becomes Quarry Street, which is also listed at part of the C93, and this runs north westwards, before turning North through New Stevenston, to meet the B799. The connection between Loanhead Road and Quarry Street is comparatively modern, suggesting that previously the C93 crossed the level crossing to Station Road, and then re-crossed the tracks near the Station. However, there is no evidence that there was ever a road crossing here.
