Gloucestershire Council

Gloucestershire County Council is the Highway Authority for all roads in the Administrative County of Gloucestershire, with the exception of Trunk roads managed by National Highways.

The vast majority of the council area lies in the historic county of Gloucestershire, although there are some small areas at the edge of the authority within the historic counties of Worcestershire and Wiltshire

Highways Management

The county council is responsible for the maintenance of 3,300 miles of roads and associated footpaths in the council area through three teams (West, Central and East). The council also maintain bridges, 173 signal controlled junctions, 194 signal controlled crossings, 7,500 illuminated traffic signs and bollards, non illuminated traffic signs, road markings and 58,000 street lights.
