The A4015 is a link road in the centre of Cheltenham. It connects the A40 and A46 and is one of few classified roads in the town not to be part of one or the other although it does lie on the original line of the A40.
The road starts where the westbound A46 Imperial Square meets Promenade at traffic lights. The A46 bears right to continue round the inner ring road, whilst Promenade to the left is numbered A4015. The road heads south along an attractive tree-lined avenue worthy of the street name, passing some grand Georgian buildings and a public park (and a modern, somewhat out-of-place, brutalist construction right at the beginning). At the southern end of Promenade the road zigzags slightly to the right into Queen's Circus, which is surprisingly straight. The road becomes narrower and the buildings more utilitarian (but would still be grand if they were anywhere else).
Another slight bend takes us into Montpellier Walk. We pass Montpellier Gardens to our left, with the road again lined by trees. We end shortly afterwards at a roundabout on one of the routes of the A40 through town. Although two-way, this section of road is recommended for eastbound traffic.
