|Route outline (key)|
The B4072 is a short urban B-road through the southern suburbs of Gloucester.
The road originally started on the A38 Bristol Road to the south of the city centre. Although its present northern end is in more-or-less the same place it now starts at traffic lights on the A430. The B4072 appears to have a one-way loop here but in fact the whole of the triangle is two-way and the "loop" only exists so that all turning movements are possible.
We run along Stroud Road, quickly meeting Park End Road which is a spur to join the A430 inner relief road further east; this junction allows access to and from the north only. There's then a run through the suburbs to the St Barnabas Roundabout where we end on the present A38. The road ahead is the A4173 which takes traffic to the A46 at Pitchcombe; this was at one time a continuation of the B4072.
