The B311 provided an alternative route to the A3214 avoiding London Victoria Station.
It started on the A3214 Buckingham Palace Road, by the Royal Mews. It headed west along Lower Grosvenor Place to cross the A302 and then headed southwest along Hobart Place. It crossed Eaton Square before reaching the A3214 again at Sloane Square, where it ended.
The entire road is now an eastern extension of the A3217.
