Staffordshire County Council's locally classified C259 is a very odd road that heads in all three directions from a simple T junction in the village of Coven, just north of Wolverhampton.
Whilst it's certainly not uncommon for a road to have a main route and a spur from that route, the C259 is almost impossible to tell which is the main route and which is the spur.
The first section of C259 is the old main route through the village (Brewood Road), bypassed in around 1989 by Poplars Farm Way, now part of the C108. It starts from a roundabout at the one end of Poplar's Farm way, passing village shops and the village hall round to another roundabout at the other end of Poplars Farm Way.
The second section is runs along School Lane, from the first section mentioned above, past the village school and playing fields, before terminating on the A449 at the light-controlled Standeford Crossroads.
School Lane is 0.6 miles long, whilst the Brewood Road section is of a very similar 0.4 mile length. A case can be therefore made that either section is the main route and the other the spur. Of course, the case may also be made that either "half" of Brewood Road plus School Lane is actually the main route, with the other section of Brewood Road being the spur.
