Route outline (key)
A6184 Heywood Distribution Park - Heywood Interchange

The A6184 is a link road from Heywood Distribution Park at Pilsworth Road to M62 J19 Heywood Interchange. It's function is to relieve congestion at M66 Junction 3 by providing a more suitable route to the HGV intensive sites at Heywood and Pilsworth.

There is some confusion as to the exact length of the A6184, as road signs imply it ends at the junction with the A6045 but OS maps show A-status terminating at Pilsworth Road.

History

It was opened to traffic on 3 November 2022. The formal launch had been on 1 November 2022 by Mayor of Rochdale, Coun. Ali Ahmed and council leader Neil Emmott. The northern part was an upgrade to part of Hareshill Road. Contractor was John Sisk and Co. Ltd., cost £20 million.

The road was originally to have been named Airbourne Way.
