|Route outline (key)|
The B6224 is a short link road in the south west of Rochdale, serving as an alternative route to reach the station.
The road starts at traffic lights on the A671 (former A627) Oldham Road and heads west along Durham Road. It immediately crosses a disused canal bridge before entering a 20 zone and residential area. It passes a mosque before reaching a T-junction.
The road TOTSOs left before having to TOTSO right shortly afterwards at another T-junction to pass under the railway line from Manchester to Rochdale. It then crosses a mini-roundabout, which provides access to the station, before bearing sharply to the left to turn into Tweedale Road. The B6224 ends here, apparently in the middle of nowhere. However, the road to the right (which is one-way towards us and so inaccessible) is the B6223 and that used to continue along Tweedale Road to meet the A58, although this is now unclassified.
