The B9028 is a short link to the east of New Deer in Aberdeenshire.
The route starts at a crossroads to the northeast of New Deer, where it meets the A981 (former B9002) and B9029. It then heads south along a more-or-less straight road bypassing the village of New Deer which lies across the fields to the west. The road soon loses its centre line, but is generally wide enough for two cars to pass for its entire length and meets no public roads as it runs through the undulating fields. At the southern end the road finally bends to the right to end at a realigned T-junction on the A948.
Apart from the junction at the southern end, which has been turned to improve visibility, the road is unchanged since it was first classified in 1922. It has been speculated that it would make sense to re-route the A948 / A981 this way to avoid New Deer, and also give the route a single number, and indeed through traffic already does come this way. However, there is no evidence that Aberdeenshire Council have considered this, and it was not included in the 2017 review of their classified network.
