For the current B9093 between New Pitsligo and Denhead in northern Aberdeenshire, see B9093.
The original B9093 was a short lived route created in the mid 1920's, and renumbered as an A road within a year or two. The route started on the A93 at Potarch Bridge and headed west along what is now the southernmost part of the B993 to meet the South Deeside road, now the B976 at Allancreich Farm. For most of this stretch it passes through woodland and forestry, with few buildings along the way, and old maps suggest this was also the case in the mid 1920s. At Allancreich, the route turned right and continued westwards past Birse to meet the B968 at Birsemore, at the southern end of Aboyne Bridge.
The B9093 was probably created in 1924, is shown on the 1926 Michelin Map, but was probably upgraded to become part of the new A973 in 1927. This survived until the early 1970s, but in 1973 or 1974 it was downgraded to become parts of two different B roads. From Potarch Bridge to Allancreich it became the southern, detached end of the B993, with the rest renumbered as part of the much extended B976.
