Blyth Interchange is junction 34 of the A1(M). It is the southern end of the Doncaster bypass, and the northern end of the A1 Blyth bypass that opened at the same time, in 1961.
Until the late 2000s, the junction was a roundabout; it is now a dumbbell.
Before the M18 northwards opened, this roundabout was the main junction for traffic for Hull thus very busy. Once that opened, the direction of Hull traffic was diverted onto the A1(M). Blyth services was opened around about this time, replacing a transport café.
