Garscube Cross lies to the north of Glasgow City Centre, and is a busy junction. The A81 has come north from the city centre, and forks left here, with Possil Road, the former A879 forking right. To make a full crossroads, part of Possil Road has been turned to meet the A81 opposite St Georges Road. The whole junction, with the exception of the Possil Road slip onto the city bound A81 is controlled by traffic lights.
There are two approach lanes on each of the unclassified roads, whilst the A81 has three approach lanes in each direction, the southern arm being S4, whilst the northern section is a wide S2, although both are effectively S2 due to parked cars. The approach lanes are marked out for a variety of movements, to minimise conflicting traffic, although the southern approach on the A81 seems to ignore the left turn, with two lanes for straight ahead which need to rapidly merge once across the junction. The left turn sliproad from Possil Road meets the A81 at a give way line.
